PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Hi there! My name is Sakura Considine and I’ve moved around quite a few times (being a military brat), but I spent my childhood in Tokyo and my teens in Northern Nevada. I came to Arizona to attend Arizona State University and graduated in 2012 with a Business and Japanese degree. At a young age, I was fortunate enough to find my passion for photography and graphic design, as my mother is a graphic designer and taught me the basics; from that, I couldn’t stop learning and taught myself everything I know to this day.
I currently have a few business ventures that I started with others soon after I graduated from college. One of them is The Sorority Secrets, a blog catered to not just sorority women, but all women to showcase the positivity of Greek Life and to be a platform for women to be able to share their beauty, fashion, lifestyle tips and more! The other is Bloguettes; we do so many different things, but to sum it all up we are a resource center (I wish there were a trendier, cuter way to call it ha!) for business owners, entrepreneurs, and bloggers to be able to visually brand themselves digitally. We travel to major cities to teach a 2-day branding workshop to go over the elements of graphic design, social media, blogging, business of blogging, and the basics of photography.
We also host mini workshops, webinars, and are currently working on a YouTube channel to provide tips! I love what I do and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I value passion more than anything else. When there’s passion involved in whatever it is, it’s significantly different and better. I enjoy surrounding myself with others that are passionate about what they do and no matter the interest, I find myself being able to have a four-hour conversation with a complete stranger!
WHAT IS ONE PERSONAL DISCOVERY YOU’VE MADE SINCE MOVING TO PHOENIX THAT HAS PROVEN TO BE A GRAND INFLUENCE ON YOUR CAREER AND CREATIVE OUTLETS?
Being yourself and believing in yourself is everything. When you are comfortable with yourself, your confidence and positivity will attract those around you and it becomes infectious. I came to Arizona not knowing a single person, and I’ve created so many circles of friends and networks that inspire and motivate me every day.
WHAT DOES YOUR IDEAL AFTERNOON CONSIST OF?
My ideal afternoon consists of a creative team meeting then wrapping up my day with a short meeting over coffee with my business partner and dear friend, Lorena. After I leave the office, I head out straight to the dog park with my pride and joy, Winston before going to the gym to release some endorphins at FitRepublic doing either yoga, spin, barre, or boxing!
Does Phoenix play a role and influence in your preferred aesthetic?
Most definitely – the creative community has grown so vastly just within this past year and as a start-up lover, I’ve truly enjoyed feeling as if I’ve made a difference in growing this community. I also value people in Phoenix being so open, kind, and willing to help one another. It’s amazing what you can do when you believe in not only yourself, but in your community.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE CURRENT STYLE SCENE AND TRENDS IN PHOENIX?
Well, it’s definitely not L.A. or NY, but it’s getting there. As I am 6 months shy of turning 25, I find my peers becoming more fashionable and not afraid of standing out. I find more and more people accessorizing their outfits whether it’s a hat, scarf, decorative jewelry pieces, or even a bold lip!
WHAT IS ONE QUESTION YOU WISHED PEOPLE ASKED YOU MORE OFTEN?
“What are you passionate about?” I find myself asking this question to others all the time; not only because I truly want to know, but because it is also a chance for others to sit, think, and talk about what they’re passionate about. In our busy days, we sometimes forget what we truly love and are passionate about, so it’s nice to have a genuine conversation about our passions. This conversation may also lead to us prioritizing what’s important to us.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ONE SHOULD BE AWARE OF WHEN LIVING IN A CITY LIKE PHOENIX? IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE TO TRY TO CHANGE – OR DRIVE AWARENESS TO- FOR THE PHOENIX COMMUNITY?
That Phoenix is a perfect place to start something! The Phoenix community is striving for more creative meet-ups, cool places to hang out, events, etc. If you think you can make a difference, DO IT!
“If I had to explain my apartment in one word, it would be “serene.” I recently got my own apartment and had to start over from scratch– everything from silverware and dishes, to all of the big stuff like my couch and bed. I’ve never lived alone before and I love it as much as I thought I would! It’s a perfect place for me to come home to after a busy day at the studio to unwind and catch up on my daily blogs– the best part about it is that it’s always clean!”

“Diego Pops is definitely one of my favorite newest spots! Atmosphere is something that is so important to me when dining out– I just love the vibe, decor, and customer service here. Their food is of course so delicious, as Mexican food is my favorite type of food.”
