“I find that philanthropy in fashion is still rare, but becoming less so. Our motto is feel good, look good, do good.”
PLEASE REINTRODUCE YOURSELF! WHAT’S CHANGED SINCE OUR STUDIO VISIT LAST YEAR?
A big move to LA! We recently said bye bye to NYC and came to LA to join our HQ in West Hollywood. Now we are all under one roof, operating out of Los Angeles.
CONGRATS ON THE RECENT MOVE! WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT THE DONNI CHARM GIRL AND HER STYLE AS A RESULT OF BEING IMMERSED IN LOCAL LA CULTURE?
I’ve learned that the Donni Charm girl is anywhere in any city. She’s in New York, LA, Denver, Toronto, Paris, Tel Aviv, Tulum etc. We aren’t about targeting a specific type, we have something for everyone.
HOW HAS BEING ON THE WEST COAST RE-INSPIRED THE PHILANTHROPIC VALUES OF THE DONNI CHARM BRAND AND HOW WOULD YOU SAY DESIGNERS APPROACH GIVING BACK, SUSTAINABILITY, ETC. IN THIS PARTICULAR CITY?
The philanthropic component of our business is in our identity. Being in LA has opened my eyes to so many new organizations and foundations that we would like to work with and support. I find that philanthropy in fashion is still rare, but becoming less so. I hope it continues to infiltrate the industry so that being chic can be associated with doing good. Our motto is feel good, look good, do good.
HOW WOULD YOU ADVISE THE NEXT GENERATION OF DESIGNERS, MAKERS, AND CREATIVES TO LEAVE AN IMPRINT IN THE WORLD SIMPLY BY DOING WHAT THEY LOVE?
Today’s generation is more focused on quality and the message behind the product than ever before. The combination of staying true to yourself while sharing your passion and success with others is what truly makes the biggest imprint.
THROUGH YOUR ENDEAVORS AS A DESIGNER HOW HAVE YOU LEARNED TO CELEBRATE PERSONAL STYLE?
My personal style is definitely reflected in my designs as well as in the Donni Charm culture. From white walls, sheepskin rugs and oversized succulents to a chunky knit scarf paired with a white tee and Levi’s, my tendency to gravitate towards a clean and cozy aesthetic is evident. With that said, our designs can be styled for any aesthetic which is why people with so many different personal styles gravitate towards the brand.
LOOKING BACK ON ALL THAT THE BRAND HAS ENDURED WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF TO DATE?
My proudest moments are seeing people of all ages wearing Donni Charm. Whether at the airport or farmers market, whether age 16 or 85, that is the best feeling in the world.
